On Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th May two members of the Thames Valley SolFed local leafleted outside the Reading branch of Office Angels as part of the nationwide campaign against the firm’s dodgy practices. Round one of the leafleting started on Wednesday at 9 am and included an imaginative re-working of the Office Angel's logo on the door of their building. On both days members of the public showed interest and often support for the campaign with at least 6 people saying that they would phone Office Angels to complain about their behaviour. After an hour the Thames Valley SolFed team dispersed until Round 2 which took place on Thursday evening. This time their presence had a greater impact. As well as continued support from many sections of the public, including some poor souls who had had the misfortune to work for Office Angels, the leafleting also drew a response from the firm itself. Clearly provoked beyond reason by a leaflet setting out their contempt for their employees Office Angels sent down a commissar to carry out what the police would call, technically, an assault against one of the SolFed team. SolFed, of course, are made of sterner stuff and after some hilarity and rigorous self-defence the lackey was sent packing with his tail between his legs. Unfortunately for Office Angels, we will be back.
