The IPP sentence is an indefinite sentence which was brought in by New Labour in 2005 and mainly given to people for minor crimes. It was abolished in 2012 but not retrospectively, meaning nearly 3000 people are still trapped in the system. Smash IPP supports those still serving the sentence and campaigns for their release.
