The big November 30 strike is drawing near. Rents and prices are rising, unemployment is going through the roof and at the same time wages are falling, benefits are slashed and people are being kicked out of their homes. The NHS is being sold-off while public services are decimated, schools and universities wrecked and the poor excluded. Officially these strikes are about pensions, but we all know it’s about a lot more than that.
We'll be keeping this post updated with plans for Brighton as we get them. So far:
The main start point for the strike demo is 11:45am at Victoria Gardens. Feeder marches as below – all will assemble at 10.30am, moving off at 11am prompt.
March 1 – outside the Bus Garage, Whitehawk Road then along Eastern Road, picking up the RSCH, Job Centre, Police Support, and Courts members of, at least 6 Unions on the way.
March 2 - Meet at Hove Town Hall, with the route straight along Church Road, Western Road (at the Clock Tower a small UNITE “feeder March will join us).
March 3 – Meet at Brighton University, with the UCU the main organisers on the day, with the route straight down Lewes Road (the GMB to join at the Gyratory
- Around 20 unions and counting will be on strike (see this blog post at libcom.org for a list)
- We hope to make a Google map of picket lines in the city, as we did for the June 30th strikes
